Antique Closet

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm all about a bargain. I love to look for, find, and take them home! I live near great Outlet Malls, which really helps, but I also LOVE a great antique find! I thought I'd share some of the things I've come across. This is my most recent love  find from craigslist for only $20. It still needs a little fixin up, but I love it.
I cleaned her up, hammered a few things back together. (Still need to fix the bottom drawers). Added three shelves, some ruffles, white paint and then shoved my fabrics in. So pretty, and I love that it only cost
20 bucks!

Doll Babies

So, I know I started a quilt awhile back, but I've started and finished like five other things since then. I'm all about instant gratification. It was taking way too long for me. I'm still working on it. But here are a couple things I've made since then.
These were kind of a mixture of some things I found online and what the boys wanted.
Goodness people sure are hard to draw and hard to sew. This was the best doll baby
I could come up with for my doll baby.
****
Then, I saw these at Owly Baby on esty...

And then I found this tutorial on The Sometimes Crafter, so then came these....
I've seen variations of these, so I went for it. Glad I went with squares...they were pretty easy!
I have also started a couple other things, but I really do want to finish my quilt I started.
Focus.

Fishy Fishy

Check out these HATS! They make me laugh! If you really want one and you can knit head over to knitty.com and she will tell you exactly how to knit one of these babies. I probably won't be knitting anytime soon, but I had to share because they are hilarious!

Happy Heart

Oooooh! I am going to BEG my third grader to let me make these for his valentines cards this year? I think there's a chance, we'll see. What an Awesomely Fantastic idea!! So easy, why couldn't I think of this?? Check this out here, and see her other ideas too!

***********************************************************************

SOoooo, He let me make them! Well, WE made them. Wahoo! They were so easy and turned out super cute! I bought this little mold at Wal Mart and we broke up little crayons we already had, then popped them in the oven. I put it on an old sheet, because I just didn't know what kind of mess it might make!
I put them in at 350 just until they melted. Here they are all melted. I was worried I was going to spill them or one of the kids were going to bump me, because of course they were all over me (I was doing something messy and hot). It's like they have some kind of messy/hot sensor.
So pretty! Let them cool, then pop em out.
I went online and downloaded some clipart from microsoft.com to use in Publisher to make the cards. Then we used some mounting tape to stick the hesrts on the cards. I love them.

Love the Color!

I absolutely LOVE this kitchen! Infact, I love this house. It feels so bright and cheery, I couldn't imagine feeling sad or mad anywhere in this house. It just looks like it would make you feel better. Check out the rest of the house here. I love the way those open cabinets look, I just don't know if mine would look as clean and organized as hers! Plus the living room in there would have about half a million toys scattered across the floor! Maybe she just opens her cellar hatch and shoves them all in! He He. I'm sure that's what they were used for back then.

You're a Winner!

Wanna make something cool? Make your own scratch off tickets! This tutorial at Artmind shows you how here. Definately a cute idea I'm gonna have to try. What do you think...scratch and win chores?

Give 'Em a Break!

So, I'm not really sure how practical or even useful this would really be, but I'm pretty darn sure it could keep middle child at the table for longer than two minutes. Isn't it great? Plus, I'm still giggling just looking at it. You can get them here.

Curb Alert!

If you know me, you would probably know that I could very well be caught in this experiment. I found this Blu Dot Real Good Experiment. It's great. It's awesome! You have to watch it.  For all those other curb shoppers out there you will love it! It's totally me, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Ahh Memories

So two years ago I started making these photo books for the kids of random things throughout the year, and giving them at Christmas. I just make them online at the Wal Mart photo site. I used to think I would scrapbook, but just never had time, and there's so much stuff to keep around. Anyhow, I love them, and I think they kinda like them for now. Maybe they will grow to like them as they get older. I dunno.
Moving to the point, I happened upon this cute little site and that's when I saw it. The jar and it struck me twice. What a great idea. My kids always say the most random cute things and then I can never remember them to tell others these things that I swear are just hilarious. First, I will start a jar, and second, instead of trying to think of genious picture captions to fit into my photo books for the kids, why not just use my great lines I've collected in the jar. Genious I know. I can't wait...I'm ready kids. I'm sure I'll be collecting some great little zingers. Zingers....yummmm.

Playhouse

Um excuse me, I found this utterly adorably playhouse. It looks like this. I'm pretty sure I (and my husband) could make one of these for our baby girl. After all doesn't having two older brothers automatically constitute getting your own playhouse? Maybe if we get bored we'll just whip up one of these instead.

Tape Art!

Oh my goodness, I found something called tape art. Not the normal 'make a wallet or prom dress from duct tape' art. But gorgeous, creative, gigantic murals of art using tape. I love it. Check out the entire website here. Make sure to look at all the Tape Drawings. The money tree is my fav! Oh, just so you know they don't litter either, they take it all down the next day. So far they have done almost 500 Drawings, it takes them between 24 hours to few weeks! Check out that amazing detail, done completely with tape! Can you tell how impressed I am?

This is a bonfire pic, not my favorite, but you get the idea. Just check out the site! I think my kids and I just might have to try this out. I know I have some painters tape around here somewhere...

The Smock

So I had to put the quilt on hold for just a minute, because I just couldn't get this great idea out of my head, and it seemed so easy! I found this super cute smock here (scroll down), right away I was addicted. There was no template (boo hoo) so I decided I would whip up my own. I also decided I wanted mine to be reversible. What if one side gets dirty? And you know it will. So here goes my best effort at the kids smock/apron...whatever...the thing I had to have.
Usually girls clothes are so much cuter than boys, but I don't know here. I think that boys smock is just purdy darn cute!

Little Green Men

So I am going to try to make my first quilt. Officially it will be my second 'blanket' of sorts. When I was in college I made this embarrasing number in which my 9 year old still keeps wadded in the corner of his bed. It must have been a hit with him, because it's worn out, yet still around. I'm a sucker for the little green aliens though. What can I say, and Toy Story is coming back! So I guess we could just call it something like a classic, even though it was horribly put together, don't look closely!

Back to new quilt. I found a tutorial of quilt that I fell in love with immediately and had to have one. I thought it would be perfect for my very first official quilt. Check it out here. LOVE LOVE her page by the way. I'll show you a sneak peek of mine, not very far along, but it goes by surprisingly quickly. We'll see how much time my little ones let me dedicate to it though

Wishful Thinking

I just knew that if I shelled out the $20 to wait in line for probably at least thirty minutes just to see Santa disaster would strike. I really didn't want to go through what I would compare to a thirty minute work-out just to hopefully get all three of my children to sit on Santa's lap (ground zero for every flu strain this season) and smile. While this isn't the most perfect Christmas picture, they are all three in the picture, it cost me nothing, and the kids ended up having a great time running around the gingerbread house. I would call this a success! Who says Santa pictures actually have to include Santa? After we got back home the kids had to undwind, because of course it was exhausting for them! So this is what ended up happening. She can't really play, but it sure looks like she is. Well, I thought it was pretty funny!

So have you seen the new XO laptops by Fuseproject? They are super cool and made just for kids! The even cooler part is that you can buy one for the unbeliveably low price of $75. You can check them out here. I absolutely love them and can't wait to get one for my kids!
